Enter the Cha-KINGS

Throughout this chapter we find a variety of figurative language techniques including imagery, similes and especially hyperbole. For what purpose did Sonnenblick emphasize these strategies so much in this chapter? What effect do these strategies have upon the novel and the character development of Alex? Be sure to use text to support your answer.

In this chapter, Sonnenblick emphasizes these strategies because he really wants to let us know that music is important to them and how much they love music. It shows that Alex really enjoys music also, and that he is really involved in music. Also he is devoted to make Sol be happy and is trying to find a great way to do that, which is through music.

I think that Sonnenblick enphesizes the similies and stuff to prove that Alex really does care about Mr. Lewis. Also that he has other friend besides Laurie. "The Cha-KINGS" are willing to help him out with the concert.

The figurtive language in this was helpful because it helped understand what they are going through.

So that we could understand somethings that we might not understand if we did know what he was talking about like words of sayings. This is also away to make it morei intersting then plain'o text.

I think that Mr. Sonnenblick emphasize these strategies so much because he wanted this chapter to be a more delight for the students to read. These stratagies did indeed make this chapter better to read for me. I enjoyed this chapter very much.

Sonnenblick uses these strategies to really show what kind of musical gods these two lovers are and how they manage to become so good.

I think that the author used them a lot because it would be really boring if he just said that Alex went and asked the two best musicaian in the school to play at the nursing home. But when you put empahasis and comparisions in it it makes it interesting and enjoyable to read. I think that he did it because most people enjoy it a lot and it brings out what Alex thinks about them.

He used them to show how much Steven and Annette were in love with eachother and to help us understand things that we may not of known or understood.

They help us understand what is going on with who and make it easier to imagine the mental movie in our heads.

I think that he used imagery and stuff in this chapter so much to help describe to us the way the Cha-KINGS act with eachother and how just act in general. It also helps to show how much Alex enjoys music and wants to improve on his guitar.

I think the author is just show how important this is to Alex. It is kind of like a turnig point in the book where Alex does something to really show how much he cares.

Sonnenblick did it to show us, the reader how good they actually are. It really emphasizes the Cha-KINGS personalities in a good way. It describes how much time and effort they put into their work

Anonymous said...

i think using imagery and metaphors is very important because it makes the reader feel like they are in the characters shoes and it makes the book alot more interesting because we can relate it to our own lives

Anonymous said...

In this chapter, Sonnenblick uses these stategies because he wants the reader to understand that the cha-KINGS are very passionate about music and they live for it. sometime to get points like this across the readers mind you have to use these staegies to do that

i think that the author uses figurative language alot in this chapter to actually get us the real feeling to how our characters act. like he says "Really, it's so sweet I could hurl." That gives the sentence so much more of a feeling rather than simply saying "I didn't like it one bit." This book is all the sudden so much more interesting just with the simple use of figurative language :)

In this chapter the author is trying to use a "musical" name for the kids because they are so involved with music. The name emphasizes something like a band.

I think that Sonnenblick uses similes, imagery ect. Is because he wants to describe the story more, so we understand the book/ events are going on in the story, plus he makes it so it's real and interesting, that it is fun to read.

i think that using all of those are important because they will make the book more interesting and more fun to read.

I think he used all those special techiniques to show the uniqueness of the cha-chings, but at the same time using them to make the book more interesting to read.

I think he emphasizes the stratigies because he wants to us to know how important jazz is in this book.

Sonnenblick emphasizes these strategies because he want his readers to understand how much the cha-KINGS love music and how well they play it. Also it helps understand whats going on in the book.

Sonnenblick is emphasizing these strategies to show his readers that Alex's love of music is a huge deal in the story which is true because this is what brings the concert to the Nursing Home where Sol plays and afterwards explains his life to Alex.

These strategies were emphasized in this chapter because Sonnenblick wanted the reader to understand Alex's position. It effects the novel and Alex's character by showing showing how Alex reacts to certain people and how he feels about the cha-Kings and their perfect relationship.

Anonymous said...

i think he used all of these strategies to express how good the cha-kings are

Anonymous said...

In this chapter Sonnenblick uses imagery to discribe the Cha-KINGS so that the reader can visualise thouse characters and he also used metaphors to discribe how the Cha-KINGS play their insterments to help the reader visualise how well they play.

Anonymous said...

I think that the cha-kings are the main point of the story and they use a lot of hyperbols.

Anonymous said...

i think using all the types of literary terms just is a plus that makes the book very fun to read!

Anonymous said...

Sonnenblick emphasizes these strategies because it makes the book more interesting. It doesnt seem as boring.

Anonymous said...

i think he is trying to make us learn that alex does think of only himself but at times he can think about others to.

Anonymous said...

I think that the imagery, simile's, metaphore's, hyperbole, ect. in this chapter make the book more interesting to read and easier to understand.

Anonymous said...

i believe that Sonnenblick emphasized these strategies b/c he wants to make the story seem real so it's like you are in alex's shoes. all the strategies show how great the novel really is, and shows how alex is feeling when he hears the Cha-KINGS.

Anonymous said...

I think he put them in here so that it could describe the book and the characters a lot better. It shows a lot more of the characters i think. Like when he was describing how good the cha-kings played their instruments.

Anonymous said...

I think the author used alot of hyperbole because he wanted us to get the clear picture that the Cha-KINGS are talented and born-to-be musicians.

Anonymous said...

All those things help us understand whats going on in the story so we know whats happening by telling us in those ways.

Anonymous said...

I think by useing these things it makes the book way beter to read and kind of gives it flaver.

Anonymous said...

I think he uses these things to get the point across that the Cha-KINGS were loved by the school and that almost nothing came between them and their music.

Anonymous said...

with using all the metaphors and similes etc, it makes the book more interesting to the readers to read the book

Anonymous said...

the cha KINGS are way good a blaying and so is sol alex not so much

Anonymous said...

I think he used it to make the book more inteersting and to help us see what is really going on.

Anonymous said...

To make the book more intresting and to help the story along.

Anonymous said...

I think that the imagery and the way sonnenblick emphasizes the book makes it almost impossible to put the book down.

Anonymous said...

it shows how alex sees the world so we are put in his shoes

Anonymous said...

I think there are several reasons for this figurative language one is because it makes a book a whole lot more interesting, another thing is teenagers usually emphasize and go into deep detail when discussing things with friends and such. i think he did it so the readers can relate and see the points he is trying to make.

Anonymous said...

I think Mr. Sonnenblick these strategies because whenever i am describing a very popular person or funny person i use all these strategies.

Anonymous said...

I think the author used his writing to develop Alex's character to show that Alex mainly just cares about himself and what he has to do to get out of trouble.

Anonymous said...

in this chapter he uses this because he wonts to make a point on how music is sooo important and that they love it!!

Anonymous said...

The author using these discribe the characters and gets his point across.

Anonymous said...

i think that mr.s used the info about the cha-kings that he did because he wanted to put the image in your mind of who they were and how well that they could play and to show that everyone uses hyperbole.

Anonymous said...

I think that useing these technecks are imporntant to the story because it makes the book more interesting.

Anonymous said...

the author wants us to know that music is very improtant to the ch kings

Anonymous said...

I think that Sonnenblick uses these more because he wants us to get more interested in how it affects the charectors.

Anonymous said...

Sonnenblick uses these strategies to make a better point. It also makes the book a ton more fun to read

Anonymous said...

it makes the book more intresting and makes me want to read on

Anonymous said...

It causes the reader to place a mental picture and gives the book more funny way than just saying that they play instruments.

Anonymous said...

it makes us see more and want to read more

Anonymous said...

i think that sonnenblick used lots of figureative language here because there unique characters and to show how eople that are totally different become good partners

Anonymous said...

in this chapter, when Sonnenblick uses metaphors and imagery it makes the book more exciting and up-beat and gives you a picture in your head

Anonymous said...

well apparently it interests the reader to see comparison subconciously you dont realize it is there but subconciously you do this tends to make the book seem better in the persons point of viewalso making the charcter seem to come to life like your watching the movie of a life making alex the main character

Anonymous said...

Using imagery helps us readers paint a picture in our heads so we actually see the scene. without imagery the story would be as bland as cold oatmeal you have to spice the story up like hot chili. Metaphors also make it fun to read a story with all the description.

Anonymous said...

the author used these to to let us know how much alex enjoys music and what he thinks about other characters

Anonymous said...

he emphasised them so much because it is very important to get the feel for what alex is seeing or doing so we can understand his take on things

Anonymous said...

The reason sonnenblick used imagery, similies and hyperbole is to show that these two people were great musisans. To show that when they play they both play at the same speed and at the same time.

Anonymous said...

i think using metaphors and imagery help the reader understand the book more and it makes the book more interesting.
