- An 8th grade English teacher for the past 16 years, my interest in photography began in my early teens. An avid Fuji Velvia shooter for years, I finally purchased my first digital camera, a Canon 20D, in January of 2005. I started my photography business on the side in 2004, and it has grown into a second career. I love how my teaching profession and photography business work so seamlessly together. Today, I find myself shooting in excess of 100,000 images a year, including wedding imagery, senior and family portrait work, sports team and action shots, and my true passion, landscape and wildife. I think Solomon is an old guy from poland who has no living family so he has to have a kid on parole help him do some stuff.
I think solomon is always grumpy because he dosent want to be in he ursing home so he acts all mean and stuff so he can get hrough his days in the nursing home

Its kind of sad that Solomon has no friends or get well cards ands seems not to care about dieing but i think he will open up Alex's eyes.
I think that Solomon is stubborn. In the book it said that he has gone through lots of other "helpers" and so that says that Solomon doesn't really like people to be around him. Also he likes to play jokes on the other "residents" there. Like when he told that lady that she forgot to put her teeth in, when they were really in. Eventhough Solomon is stubborn, I think he will come around and really like Alex. They will become really good and close friends.
i think solomon is a grumpy old man, and is kinda weird, but i would understand because i would be the same if i were in a nursing home and had nobody visit me that much, and not a single get well card or balloon or something so i understand why he is so grumpy.

I think there is more to solomon than he wants to show. maybe something hurts that no one nos of on the inside and he covers it up with being rude and grumpy. he needs the nursing home because he does all of these things and no one can deal with him like he is.

I think Solomon is a guy who is originally from Poland who is very, very mean. Thus, he has no family or friends who care for him, so he has to have kids (who are on probation and need things to do for community service) to come help him. I have a feeling this will be a very interesting characer to watch throughout the book... i think we may be in for a couple surprises!! i have so many thughts!!!

I think that solomon is an old man who is angry at life. Who probably doest have any living family if so none that think highly of him. Also i think that he is mad that the nurses dont want to deal with him so they have high schoolers and other kids take care of him so they dont have to.

Mr. Solomon seems to like Laurie. They seem to get along well and are alot alike in many diffrent ways. Solomon is being rude to Alex though.

wow... My outlook on Sol has REALLY, REALLY changed! at first I thought that he was this rude jerk who told everyone what to do. And when Laurie came to meet him and he was telling her what do do all the time... that really confirmed that thought... however the chapter that Alex brings in his guitar and Sol starts crying.. that made me think that maybe he isn't so mean. I think that he is actually a nice person now! I can't wait to find out if him and Alex get along better throughout the book or if they start to hate eachother... hmmm...
I think Sol is really sad and does not want to give up on his Daughter. He is alot like Alex because they both made mistakes. Alex drank and Sol smoke.

After reading to the midpoint, I think Sol is a nice guy. He seems to be a real good influence on alex. Sol is still a grouch and needs to learn a few manners. I also think Sol is a lot like Alex because they both made bad choices and regret them.
Sol also seems to only be calm when he is listening to music and seemed pleased to hear about the concert. But on new years, he was really mad and accually kicked alex out of the home after he learned about alex's true reason about being there. Sol is a good guy and he shows it by accepting alex when he comes back into the home. I also think that Sol knows he is going to die soon because he talked about his health problems. but seems to be sad when talking about it.
Sol is also having problems with his family just like alex is. His daughter never comes too see him but he still buys flowers for her ever year. I seems as if he needs help with his family to.
WOAH!!! sol is even more touchy than i thought!!! When Lauie "spilled the beans" about Alex being there for CC.. that did NOT go over well! he snapped and got REAL mad!! Sol is just one of those characters that you either hate to love... or love to hate... I'm not sure which one i am at right now... I guess we'll see :)

I think in the begining Sol was mean to Alex and all the other volunteers because he feels abandond and when there is no one to abandon him then it won't happen again, like with his daughter. I think Alex is almost like family to him. It shows a lot how Solomon opened up to alex and told him about his wife. that would have to be a very very hard thing but he was able to tell alex. I think sol thinks alex is a really great kid he just didnt like how alex was drunk and drove because of what happen with his wife. But i think sol is a good guy and has really influenced alex a lot!

I think Sol is just a tired old man that hasn't had a real volunteer or visiter for that matter in a while and I sort of feel sorry for him. If I was his daughter I would try to visit him every chance that I got just to make him feel better.

I think Sol is the most entertaining character in the book who else plays mean tricks on old people in nursing homes and who else throws random Yiddish into sentences in English. To sum it all up Sol always makes me laugh.
